Fans of elegant shirts have to face one serious problem – the collars very often get stained. Especially these yellow set-in stains look particularly awful. Is there a way to get your snow-white ring of collar back again? Yes, and it’s an easy one!
Where do the stains come from?
You must be wondering what stains your collars so much. In fact it’s a mixture of sweat with hair-style products or body balms. Your collar is close to your neck skin and consequently a lot of dirt deposit forms there. It is difficult to remove it but it’s definitely worth trying to make your collar look new again.
How to wash your collar using lemon
Mix 5 spoonful of lemon juice with 5 spoonful of water. Pour the mixture over the stain, wait 15 minutes and wash it in the washing machine.
How to remove collar stains using baking soda
Make some paste of baking soda and water. Apply it on the yellow stains and gently rub it in. Wait an hour, remove the rest of the paste and wash the shirt in the machine.
How to remove collar stains using peroxide
Mix 2 glasses of peroxide and a glass of washing-up liquid in a spray bottle. Apply the mixture on the stains and leave it for a few minutes in a dark place. In case of colorful clothes first test the impact of peroxide on a small invisible part of the clothes. The problem is that sometimes peroxide works as a bleach.
Finally wash it in the machine. If the stains are still there, repeat the procedure.
How to wash the collar using standard detergents
First immerse the collar in water and apply a standard bleach. Then, using a toothbrush brush the stained spot and wait 30 minutes. Next leave the shirt in water for 30-60 minutes and finally wash it in the machine.
If any of the methods presented above do not work, try repeating the procedure. It could be time consuming but aren’t our shirts worth this effort?
